Eyelid Surgery - Blepharroplasty
Dermatochalasis of the upper eye lid means that the upper eye lid skin is redundant and hoods over the eye lid margin; it is treated surgically by removing the excess skin and reforming the lid crease at the normal anatomical position. Often there is also prolapsed orbital fat that needs to be contoured to provide a natural, more youthful look.

Ptosis of the upper eye lid means that the upper eye lid is low, often with the lid margin into the pupil space; it is treated surgically by dissenting deep into the eye lid and tightening the levator muscle which originates in the top of the boney eye socket and reattaching it to the cartilage plate in the upper eye lid. It may be combined with removal of excess superficial skin (blepharroplasty).
